A native of Mount Vernon, Alabama, Sentell has been active in U.S. politics since 1998, serving as an assistant to a U.S. Governor, U.S. Senator and two U.S. Representatives. Sentell currently serves as Chief of Party for the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Nigeria program. In this role, he is working to improve organizational and professional development of political parties in Nigeria. Prior to joining the IRI, he served as Legislative Assistant to Representative Sean P. Duffy of Wisconsin, advising the Congressman on issues such as implementation of the Dodd Frank Financial Reform Act, housing and mortgage finance, mobile payments, education, taxes and campaign finance. Before his return to Capitol Hill, Sentell worked for nearly seven years in the banking and housing finance industry.
Additionally, Sentell has been a leader with Global Impact, a ministry of McLean Bible Church (McLean, Virginia) that sends short-term teams into developing countries to partner with local organizations and communities to assist with various projects. He served as a board member for Debt of Love, a non-profit organization supporting local charities that promoted justice, defended the helpless, and serve the most vulnerable in East Africa, as Past President of the DC Auburn (Alumni) Club, and as a member of the Transatlantic Network 2020. In addition, he was selected to serve as a fellow for the United Nations Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC). The UNAOC Fellowship program is designed to enhance mutual knowledge and understanding between peoples and societies from Muslim-majority countries in the Arab World, Europe and North America.
Sentell received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Auburn University Montgomery.
